There seems to be no end to the Knights’ celebrations. Around 70,000 fans, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the state’s governor, M.K. Narayanan, showed up at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday to sing, dance and clap for Kolkata Knight Riders, who lifted the Indian Premier League trophy on Sunday.

The team’s owner, actor Shah Rukh Khan tied his honorary silk stole on the waist and danced for hours with co-owner Juhi Chawla and the rest of the team as two popular Bangla bands, Bhoomi and Chandra Bindu, belted out special tracks in honour of the team’s first win in five years of the tournament.

Actor Rituparna Sengupta and politico Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda were also seen joining in. Mamata wore her trademark white sari but with the border coloured purple — which is KKR’s colour. She went about ensuring order in the grounds, and felicitated each team member with a gold chain with the words ‘Bengal loves you’ inscribed on them.

While questions are being raised on where the funds for the fancy celebrations are coming in from, SRK and the team continue to celebrate in what have been the longest IPL win celebrations till date.

Before the big party on field, SRK was seen dancing on a table at actor Prabhu Deva’s house in Chennai on Monday. “We partied till 4am,” said Prabhu Deva. Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, SRK’s wife Gauri and Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh were also present.
