Hollywood couple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are doing their best to help the victims of earthquake-ravaged Haiti. They’ve each promised to donate $50,000 dollars-a-year until 2015 to rebuild the country’s schools.
The stars joined British writer-director Paul Haggis at a celebrity brunch for his charitable organisation, Artists for Peace and Justice, to raise funds for Haiti, reported
. Other guests present there included actors Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Gerard Butler.
The brunch raised USD 4.5 million. Cruz’s pledge comes less than two weeks after she praised Haggis at the Golden Globe Awards for snubbing the red carpet to fly to Haiti and help relief workers.
