Actor Monica Bedi is a busy bee. Currently shooting for her upcoming Punjabi film, opposite singer Jazzy B, she’ll be starting her shoot for a daily soap on television soon. She says she misses the good ol’ days, when shooting wasn’t this hectic and work was still fun. “Earlier we’d work and still have time for ourselves, but it has become really hectic now,” she says.
However, she feels that the actors themselves are to be blamed for this lifestyle. “We make our standard of living so high and then we have to constantly work to maintain it,” she muses. Monica will be seen reprising her role on the show Saraswatichandra. She plays the mother of the male protagonist and her character has grey shades. Clarifying speculation as to why she left the show, she says, “The way the story was going, my character didn’t have much to do. Now that the story needs me, I’m all excited to be back.”
And despite the hectic schedule, since her parents stay in Norway, she does get homesick, too. “My mother stays with me in India for six month and for the other six, she goes back to Norway to be with my dad,” says Monica, who says she is single and “there’s no one special in life.” Ask her why she decided to do telly soaps, and she says, “I do a lot of live shows. And I’d always have some TV star travelling with me for such events. People love them so much. I realised that TV had a huge audience.”
