Bollywood’s Character Dheela girl, Zareen Khan was seen in a new avatar when she walked the ramp for Johara Jewels at the recently concluded India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) in Mumbai. She was looking slimmer and fitter than ever, and the buzz is that she has now been signed for Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2 and the role demands her to look ultra-glamourous.

The actor, who believes that her weight has become a “matter of national issue”, says, “It’s not about this film, I belong to this industry now, so I have to remain fit.” However, Zareen says that she was asked to put on weight for her role in her debut movie, Veer. “If some established actor would have done it, everyone would have appreciated it and said the role requirement was such. Anyways, now I’m getting back to my original shape,” she adds.

Zareen gets very upset when people compare her with her look-alike, Katrina Kaif. “I think this is all media created. It’s high time we get rid of this. Bollywood doesn’t need clones,” she retorts. Talking about item songs, the actor says that she doesn’t even consider ‘Character Dheela’ as an item number. “That’s because I didn’t do it solely. It was a fun song with Salman Khan. I was offered many item numbers before Character Dheela, but I’m not comfortable doing them.”

And finally, what is her relationship with Salman Khan? “He’s my best friend in Bollywood, he’s a genuine person. And since I don’t know many people in the industry, he’s like my mentor and guide.” So, is she in love? “No, I’m not dating anyone, I’m single,” she signs off.
