Anupam Kher took out time from his shooting schedule of
to have a day out with ladies of Lucknow at
Woman 2011 Awards, held at Jaipuria Institute.
Kher, who recently turned 56, has been in the city shooting for Shuja Ali’s film with actors Gulshan Grover and Rati Agnihotri. He gave away the awards to women achievers who were chosen by readers and a panel of eminent personalities, including Dr Amrita Dass, director of Indian Career Studies, Dr Kumkum Roy Choudhary of Sahara, Deepa of Jaipuria Institute of Management, among others.
On the occasion of Women’s Day, Kher said, “Women are superior to men. God gave them tolerance, intelligence, beauty and the power to give birth to another life.” Nita Bahadur, whose organisation Drishti Samajik Sansthan Trust works for children with special needs, won the award while the runners up were Kumduni Sharma, a renowned doctor, Farida Abraham, principal of La Martiniere Girls College and Divya Shukla, who educates kids of migrant workers.
