Anushka Sharma may be just five films old, but she is matching up with her much-senior colleagues on the television ad chart. The 24-year-old actor is all over TV with eight plum ad projects, giving older female actors a run for their money and raking in about Rs 14crore every year.
“Anushka has a huge connect with the youth thanks to her girl-next-door image. Also, getting her is much easier on the pocket than getting, say, Katrina Kaif. She seems to have a great future in ads...,” says ad guru Prahlad Kakkar.
“I think she’s almost filling in the space Priyanka (Chopra) once occupied,” says Manish Porwal of Alchemist Talent Solutions, a talent management firm.
Some viewers see it as tiring overexposure. “I’m a fan of hers but it’s too much, she’s everywhere. Give us a break!” says Aarush, 20.
