A few weeks ago, ex-Australian cricketer Shane Warne and model-actor Elizabeth Hurley created ripples by getting engaged. And even as the world looks forward to the high-profile wedding, actor and close friend Shilpa Shetty informs the date hasn’t been set.
"I wished Shane and Liz when I heard the news (of their engagement). And I am really happy for them because they became a part of our IPL (Indian Premier League) family," says Shilpa, who became friends with Shane after he captained her team, Rajasthan Royals. She adds, "I guess the announcement of the date will come from their side. But honestly, I don’t think they are going to get married very soon."
Elizabeth, 46, and Shane, 42, had confirmed their engagement via Twitter, thanking well-wishers and revealing that the cricketer had proposed "privately" in a romantic setting. The couple has been dating since late 2010, after Hurley separated from her husband of four years, Indian textile businessman Arun Nayar. Their divorce was finalised in June this year.
Shilpa, on her part, has taken "a break for at least two years" from acting. She adds: "Nothing great was coming my way and I focused my attention on other things, which need time."
Now, she’s ready to launch her production house. "My hands are full, though I will talk about it when I am ready with my cast and credits," Shilpa says, adding: "We should be taking our film on the floors in December. Soon, we will make the announcement. But I have no plans to act in my first film."
