After making his debut in the Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra owned IPL team, Rajashthan Royals, cricketer Sreesanth says that his focus is on the game and not its politics. “I don’t want to pay attention to stupid things (such as the Nupur Mehta episode) and I am sure that the team is smart enough to identify honeytraps (when it comes to match-fixing),” he says.
The 29-year-old also clarifies that it’s not he alone who wants to get the IPL 5 trophy for Shetty’s yet-to-be-born baby. “It’s not an individual thing. The entire Rajasthan Royals team wants to welcome the baby with the trophy,” he says.
Talking about Sachin Tendulkar’s much-celebrated ton and his new straight hair, he says, “We were surprised to see his new look. But only he knows what he is doing. He is a legend.”
Sreesanth was not part of the tournament due to injury and could not celebrate the moment with Tendulkar. “I missed being part of the green room,” he says.
Meanwhile, his dancing prowess has got many film scripts coming his way, but he says he’ll stick to the field for now, and is not looking to enter movies as of now. “I have been offered many roles and read a couple of scripts of Telugu films and Bollywood movies too. But, scripts can wait. As of now, I want to concentrate on cricket and IPL,” he says.
Wishing a speedy recovery to Yuvraj Singh, who is recovering from cancer in the US, Sreesanth says, “I call him G, my gangster! I’m sure he will make a great comeback and set some brilliant records. He is a tough guy.”
