While a recent study shows that Indians by and large look for sex on the Net, Mumbai’s celebs look for ‘mountain bikes, movies et al.
I use Google pretty much for everything, whether it is searching the Net for some information or for an IP address. However, due to time constraint I do not indulge in idle surfing and my search is very focussed. The last time I googled, it was for a mountain bike and before that for the best flea collar for my dog.
Besides I also use a lot of Google related software like Google Earth, Picasa and mail. But I don’t do ego surfing, though there are many others who do it for me.
I do occasionally Google stuff on movies — films from the past, information about directors and things like that. Sometimes I have even looked up my name and have been surprised to see some of my photographs, which I have never seen. It’s good fun.
Considering the fact that I acquired my first computer only three months ago, before which I steered clear of technology complete, I Google a lot these days. I often look up biographies on the net and about people I’d like to know more about. It is one word for all answer. It was while I was Googling that I came across a great site called www.scriptorama.com. I’ve never really done ego surfing but wouldn’t mind looking up my name once in a while.
Of late I really haven’t been doing a lot of Google surfing but earlier did it a lot. I specially remember once when two of my childhood friends and I decided to go backpacking to Thailand, all of us individually Googled to search the places to go, the budget hotels and not to miss where all the parties were. Ego surfing? What’s that? Anyways I have searched for my name on Google once, sitting with my director Pankaj Prashar. We were comparing the number of times both of us feature.
