The boys danced on All Izz Well
The champagne shower at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium after India’s epic World Cup win on Saturday night was only the beginning of the party for the boys in blue, while the rest of the country was having a wild, wild one elsewhere.

The bubbly flowed in till the wee at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Hotel, where the team was lodged, and the players spent the precious after-moments with their friends and folks. “The boys bathed in champagne, and were joined in the revelry by actor Aamir Khan,” says sports agent Sangeet Shirodkar, who was part of the high-spirited do. “I remember Harbhajan telling Aamir to show some moves on the 3 Idiots song, All Izz Well, and then they all joined in,” he adds.

Yuvraj Singh, who gave a wily smile when commentator Ravi Shastri had asked him what’d follow the win, called up his mother Shabnam Singh on Sunday morning to say that the team hadn’t slept a wink in the night. “When I asked if how he was up so early, he said, ‘we all didn’t sleep the whole night. We all got emotional, and I cried a lot’,” she says.

What was CP’s fault?
City nightspots may be basking in the glory of hitting a jackpot on Saturday night, but owners of restaurants in Connaught Place aren’t pleased with the police’s decision to close entry points to the city’s heart after 8pm that night.

“The whole city was celebrating, and CP was sleeping. We could have easily doubled our sales if this had not happened,” says Samir Chawla of Blues.

Tarun Sikka of Ignis Kitchen & Bar says, “Only two entry points to CP were open. But there was a lot of confusion, so most of them avoided CP, bringing our sales down by 40%.” ACP (CP), Seju P Kurevilla, says, “All entry points were not closed. But we had to put up barricades for security.”

What a bummer, Poonam!
There was just one question after India lifted the Cup: What happened to model Poonam Pandey, who said she’d strip if we won?

Pandey, 19, switched off her phone on Saturday. Her spokesperson said, “She is getting threat calls. Complaints have been filed against her in MP and UP. Some political parties have also decided to take action. So, she decided not to come to the stadium.”

Pandey’s application to the BCCI before the finals read, “I am serious about it as many studies confirm that such performances boost and inspire people to perform better in any field.”
