‘When Shah Rukh looked into my eyes, I actually blushed’

Chitrangada Singh is the face of revivalist designer Roopa Vohra’s new collection inspired by Nilufer Hatun. Vohra is the grand daughter of former Prime Minister, Gulzari Lal Nanda.

She resurrects dying art forms. This time she’s found her muse in Persian royalty and impressed Chitrangada who’s not a “jewellery person” with her work. “I prefer designs that are ethnic or semi-precious trinkets from Bali and Thailand. My favourite piece is a rope of diamond strung around black stone shaped like a teardrop,” she says.

ChitragadaOf late, Singh has been seen more on the ramp and in ads. But she’ll be back in Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi, by the year-end. "Another film with Prakash Jha should flag off by February. I’m also excited about Sudhir’s Nawab The Nautch Girl And The John Company and Mehrulnissa. Sudhir’s working on so many good scripts, I want all of them to be made."

She’s elated about her cell phone ad with Shah Rukh Khan: “I had to hit him (SRK) with a book for sneaking a peek at the cricket scores,” she laughs, adding that when SRK looked deep into her eyes and husked, “Aaj ka kya plan hai? (What’s today’s plan?),” she didn’t need an assistant director to tell her to blush.

Golfer Jyoti Randhwa’s actor-wife plans to launch a signature clothing line some day. “I’m a woman and we like all things beautiful,” she smiles.
