Konkona Sen Sharma- Ranvir Shourie
It was by far the most surprising wedding of the year. Without any announcement, long time lovers Konkona and Ranvir got married in their Versova apartment on September 3. It was a private ceremony attended by family and a couple of friends. The couple announced their wedding on Twitter, after the event creating quite a stir. They are now expecting their first child in March next year. “Yes, I am pregnant and I am on a break till next year,” said Konkana.

Anoushka Shankar-Joe Wright
Anoushka announced her pregnancy and engagement both with film-maker Joe Wright in August. The very next month the singer got married. Shankar wore a blue lehenga to the wedding and a Ritu Kumar outfit for the party later. Her sister, singer, Norah Jones hosted her mehendi. The couple are expecting their first child in next year.

Sania Mirza-Shoaib Malik
The Indian tennis star ticked off a controversy when she announced her decision to marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Shoaib’s alleged first marriage to Hyderabad girl Ayesha Siddiqui came to light. After a much hyped controversy, Shoaib acknowledged his first marriage, divorced Ayesha and married Sania on April 12.

Shashi Tharoor-Sunanda Pushkar
This was one highly anticipated wedding. MP Shashi Tharoor married entrepreneur Sunanda Pushkar in his ancestral home at Elavanchery village in Kerala on August 22. Although big names were expected, the wedding was attended only by family and friends. Manishankar Aiyar was the only politician present for the ceremony.

Sonali Kulkarni-Nachiket Pantvaidya
In May 2010, the actor married the managing director of Fox Television Studio India, Nachiket Pantvaidya, in a low profile wedding ceremony. It was an unannounced wedding and came to light only after it happened.

Shruti Seth-Danish Aslam
Film-maker Danish Aslam who made his debut this year with Kunal Kohli’s Break Ke Baad married actor Shruti Seth in a private ceremony in Goa just before his Deepika Padukone-Imran Khan starrer released in November. The ceremony was attended by Imran and his fiance Avantika, Deepika and beau Siddharth Mallya. Film-maker Kunal Kohli played the priest at the wedding.

Vivek Oberoi-Priyanka Alva
Among one of the first and few Bollywood actors to go for an arranged marriage, Vivek married late politician Jeevraj Alva’s daughter Priyanka on October 29 in Bangalore. Predictably, most of the industry bigwigs gave the three day function a miss— but big names from the world of politics turned up. Vivek’s father Suresh Oberoi and Yashodhara gifted the couple a flat in Mumbai.

Manisha Koirala-Samrat Dahal
Manisha married boyfriend, Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal on June 18 in a lavish wedding in Kathmandu. The wedding was attended by the President of Nepal, Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar. Actor Suman Ranganathan, Govinda’s wife, Sunitha and Vivek Mushran attended the ceremony. Later, the couple hosted a reception, which was attended by thousands.

Rahul Mahajan-Dimpy Ganguly
It was the first wedding on national TV in India. Late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan’s son Rahul Mahajan married Bengali actor Dimpy Ganguly on Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega on March 6, 2010.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-Sakshi Rawat
The Indian cricket skipper married longtime girlfriend, hotel management graduate Sakshi Rawat in a private ceremony in Dehradun on July 4. Dhoni and Sakshi had met through Dhoni’s manager and started dating instantly. Sakshi has since become a rage on social networking websites.
