Deepika Padukone might not be a professional badminton player like her father, Prakash Padukone, but she certainly enjoys picking up the racquet recreationally. The actor, who has played state level badminton in the past, did exactly that on the sets of her upcoming film, when she found an enthusiastic opponent in her co-star, Irrfan Khan.
An insider from the set says, “They were sitting together one day and Irrfan asked Deepika if she would like to play a game of badminton since he saw some racquets lying around.” The insider adds that what initially started as friendly games soon turned into a competition of sorts. “This one time, they got so involved in the game that Shoojit (Sircar; director) had to drag them back to the sets,” says the source.
When contacted, Irrfan confirmed the story, adding, “I had to play better than Deepika, which was a task. I have asked her to give me some time (to prepare), so we can have a proper match soon.”
