The Chennai-based producers of Robot have narrowed their wish-list for the heroine to be paired with Rajnikant.

Deepika Padukone is the first choice. The producers and director Shankar have sought an appointment for a story narration.

Padukone, currently on a holiday, is said to have extended her stay in Australia. According to a source, the producers of Robot are willing to pay her the fee she quotes.

Age gap
But our source states, "How can Deepika be sure about signing Robot? Rajni sir is 58 while she's just 22."

Apart from the under-production Yash Raj project with Ranbir Kapoor and Bipasha Basu, Padukone has signed Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk to China and is believed to have committed to Saif Ali Khan's maiden production venture to be helmed by Imtiaz Ali.

Among the heroines who have worked with Rajnikant in his previous films are Sridevi, Manisha Koirala.

Romantic leads
For his last blockbuster, Sivaji - The Boss, Aishwarya Rai had been offered the part. But nothing came of that. Instead Shriya Saran played the romantic lead in the movie which ran to packed houses even in Mumbai.

It's dubbed Hindi version is still to be relesed. Oddly enough, the original Tamil soundtrack of Sivaji by AR Rahman is not yet available at the music marts in the city.
