It just missed hitting Mumbai’s iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link and had run aground on Juhu beach, and still waits to be tugged to safe shores. Now, MV Wisdom has one more reason to make headlines. The stranded ship that has been attracting several bystanders has been incorporated into an online game called Mumbai Underworld. The popular social game on ibibo.com that focuses on the city’s underbelly, recently added the ship to its storyline and has even given it a new twist to raise curiosity among gamers.
“There were many questions around the appearance of MV Wisdom in Indian waters and this triggered us to add this feature on our game. We have also given a mystery twist to the whole application, playing with the imaginations of the people to attract them towards it,” says Rahul Razdan, president, products and operations, ibibo web. MV Wisdom’s appearance in Mumbai Underworld follows additions such as ‘Lambani’ House and the Adarsh Society scam.
In the game version of ‘Wisdom Ship in Mumbai World’, the ship is seen carrying illegal arms and ammunition and gamers need to find the explosives floating near the shores. On discovering them, they get special ammunition that increases their power in the game. Razdan says, “We should understand that it’s just a game set to current background and has nothing to do with actual facts.”
Razdan also isn’t particularly worried about the backlash that the game could receive due to its negative angle. He says, “This addition is in lines with the underworld theme of the game, which has an overtone of negativity.” Gamers are excited though. Kunal Kamath, student and avid gamer, says, “It is always fun when new elements are introduced. It adds to the realism of a gaming experience.”
