Women look for a perfect man

Pop icon Madonna’s recent comment that women still want to be swept off their feet by men, brought to the fore modern-day myth of a perfect man. So much has changed for us over the last few decades, in that we have the opportunity for better education, for many different kinds of jobs, for being independent in ourselves.

Pop sensation Madonna’s recent remarks on women and their fixation with the idea of a perfect man, has struck a chord with most modern thinking women. The 53-year-old singer, who is currently dating 24-year-old dancer Brahim Zaibat, recently remarked, “We women still want what we’ve always wanted. So much has changed for us over the last few decades, in that we have the opportunity for better education, for many different kinds of jobs, for being independent in ourselves. But we all still find ourselves wanting the same thing at the same time — to be swept off our feet by the perfect man.”

That arises the question that does a perfect man exist? Dr Rachna Khanna Singh, psychologist, lifestyle expert, Artemis Hospital, says, “The four basic qualities that encompasses this image for every woman includes, looks, intellect, emotional balance and financial stability.”

Regardless of success in career, a woman’s search for perfect love, never ends. But how many frogs does one kiss to find the perfect prince charming still remains a mystery. TV anchor Mini Mathur, says, “It’s unfair to generalise that only women are looking for a perfect man. Even a man would want to go through the same feeling of love. For me, a perfect man is someone who is in sync with his real self, is intelligent, curious, has a light-hearted way of looking at things and can stand up for what is right.”

Model, Diva Dhawan says, “I don’t think that there is anything such as a perfect man. In fact, it is the imperfection that makes the person beautiful.” Author Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan says, “I visualise my perfect man as smart, funny and talented.”

Makeup artist Chandni Singh says, “My perfect man will be someone who is compassionate, respects women, is caring, and has a sense of humour. My heart beats for Pierce Brosnan.”

Designer Nida Mahmood says, “There is no one definition of a perfect man. Every woman has a specific idea of her perfect man. I don’t look for super-hero-like qualities, but someone who keeps me comfortable, happy, and more importantly is a good human.”
