Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who has been selected for the prestigious Padma Bhushan award, today said it was wonderful to be chosen for the honour and thanked his fans and well wishers for their support.
The actor-filmmaker, who is in the US attending the Sundance Film Festival, said, "The first thing that comes to my mind is my mother's smiling face. This has been a good day for me. My film Peepli Live gets superb response at the Sundance Film Festival and then I receive this wonderful news of getting Padma Bhushan. I wish I was back home right now."
The 44-year-old filmstar said he thanked God for these happy moments and all his fans and well wishers for their love and support. Khan, who made his directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed Taare Zameen Par in 2007, recently came out with 3 Idiots, the highest-earning Hindi movie.
Actor Saif Ali Khan, selected for Padma Sri, said he felt very proud and honoured. "I would like to thank my family and loved ones who have been there for me and the industry for supporting me."
"I would particularly like to thank (film personalities) Imtiaz Ali, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, Ramesh Taurani, Farhan Akhtar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Siddharth Anand, Kunal Kohli and Vishal Bharadwaj for having faith in me and making me who I am today," the 39-year-old star said.
