Hers is a curious case of a plain Jane gone fashionably sane, which is evident in the teasers of Short Kut. And that’s also one reason why Arshad Warsi renamed her Amrita ‘Wow’.
You seem to be having the last laugh…
I had great fun at IIFA. I almost did bhangra on the ramp with Akshaye Khanna while promoting Short Kut.
Tells us more about the film.
It’s about two contrasting personalities and their lives as filmy strugglers. The situations are so funny that I end up laughing every time I watch the rushes. <b1>
What’s with the diva makeover?
I always knew I could look hot and Manish (Malhotra) brought the same out of me.
So has Arshad’s sense of humour rubbed off?
I hope so! But I think this is a much stronger role for him than Circuit of Munnabhai series.
How was it shooting for the dance sequence with Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt?
I’ve grown up watching their films so it was a historic moment for me. While Anil’s excited about his role, Sanjay’s an observer.
You’ve worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Main Hoon Na and now with them. Does it adds to the pressure?
Not at all! They are just bonuses. I only give importance to myself while acting — even if I’m sharing screen space with stars.
We hear Akshaye’s been smitten by you…
Really? I haven’t heard that one before. (laughs) But it feels good as it’s not everyday that you have co-actors saying good things about you.
Are you in touch with your previous films’ co-stars?
Shahid and I haven’t been in touch, but I’d love to work with him again.
What about your alleged love interests, Hurman Baweja and Nikhil Dwivedi?
Oh God! We make nice conversation when we meet, but haven’t met them for long. And neither have I met Gauhar and Farhan (of Pakistani band Jal) who also figured on my link-up list. (laughs)
So what’s next?
Reading scripts and cleaning my room!
