Engaging the audience with one’s film is a part of all promotions these days.

Yeh Saali Zindagi

director Sudhir Mishra, who has never earlier gone all out to promote his films in an aggressive manner says, “Embracing the ancillary activities that help gain eyeballs for the film is a good decision. I have realised that it helps create a buzz.”

Pointing to a nonlinear online game – Love Rescue Mission, which he launched on the official Facebook fan page of the movie recently, Mishra proudly informs that 10,000 gamers have already enjoyed playing the game.

How it works

A user who logs on to the game, plays as the in-game avatar, Irrfan Khan, who has to find his lover (in-game avatar of Chitrangada Singh), who is hidden away. There are obstacles in terms of gangsters, but unlike in the movie, the game provides clues to get over the hurdles.

Mishra informs, “Chitrangada loves the game. She enjoyed the surprises we have kept in store for the player including the car chase as well. It has an interesting small story and has dialogue linked to the movie that plays mid-game and after - as you race through the city in a fast car. The graphics and action-packed game-play (for an online game) makes it fun and very entertaining.”

Movie parallels

In the romantic thriller, Khan is crazy about Singh. In his quest to find her, he goes through a tumultuous journey, risking his life. The irony is that she loves someone else but in his obsession for her, Khan agrees to help her find her lover. Mishra adds, “The same concept is applied to the game. We wanted to use an innovative way of promotion. The game helps the player understand the nature of the film and is available for free online.” The Facebook page also has uncensored promos, which help build curiosity for the film.
