Yuvraj Singh has joined hands with actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and ace photographer Atul Kasbekar for a social cause. We’ve been told that the cricketer will be heard reciting a poem in Punjabi for the actor’s initiative.
A source reveals, “Men Against Rape and Discrimination (MARD) is a social initiative designed to create awareness among men and to instill respect towards women and build awareness of gender equality. The Delhi gang-rape incident was a rude shock for the entire country. Farhan and Atul teamed up, had brainstorming sessions and created this platform.”
The source adds that Farhan and Atul feel that change in law and order cannot curb increasing crime against women. A change in the social mindset is required to bring about a larger change. So now, after cricketer Sachin Tendulkar recited a poem in Marathi, playback singer Shaan did the same in Bengali and Mahesh Babu in Telugu, this time, it is Yuvraj who was more than willing to come on board to spread the message in Punjabi. The source says, “The activists want to reach out to as many people as possible. They believe that with the cultural diversity in India, the only way to do this would be by breaking language barriers.”
Ask Yuvraj about this and he says, “I am glad to be associated with MARD. I think every person needs to do their bit.”
