Is the summer heat making you too lazy to indulge in your beauty routines or to step outside to buy your HG (Holy Grail) beauty product?
Get more out of your favourite cosmetics by making them do double duty with our lazy girls’ guide to summer makeup fixes.
From using a baby shampoo or petroleum jelly to removing eye makeup and even brightening up stained nails at home, we tell you the tricks to make your beauty products do double duty.
Eyelash curler: Want to instantly glam up your look with long black lashes? Just run your eyelash curler under warm water or blast it with your blow dryer for a few seconds before using it for a considerably curlier result that lasts!
Perfect the brow: Women with thin brows can get darker and defined eyebrows with this simple trick. Use an eyebrow pencil that is a bit lighter than your natural colour to define the shape, then apply eye shadow powder that is closest to your natural hair colour with a thin, angled brush.
DIY tinted moisturiser: Save money by creating your own tinted moisturiser. Mix a small drop of your liquid foundation and a dime-sized amount of your daily moisturiser or sunscreen cream in the palm of your hand. Voila! Your own tinted moisturiser is ready!
Prep the scrub: Take some time out for some citrus beauty fixes with a homemade body scrub. Mix one part olive oil with two parts sugar or salt, add a few drops of an essential oil. Gently massage over your arms and legs before your shower, and rinse off .
No mess, no fuss eyes: Put your business card to good use to perfect your eye makeup. While applying mascara, hold the card up along the inside edge of your lashes and sweep the brush against it with your other hand. This way, your lashes can’t bend out of the way of the brush and you end up coating every lash all the way to the tip.
Silky sleep: Always sleep on satin or silk pillowcases, so that your hair doesn’t snag and break when you’re tossing and turning. If your hair is prone to dryness, focus shampoo only on your scalp. Or if you are too lazy to wash your hair, just dust baby powder on your scalp and brush through it. Voila! Your hair is almost as good as freshly shampooed.
Brush away the yellow nails: If your nails look yellow after regularly wearing dark nail polish and you don’t have time to visit the parlour for a pedicure, here is an easy solution. Try scrubbing them with a nail brush and whitening toothpaste to instantly jazz up your nails. You can also raid the kitchen and stick your nails in lemon halves for five minutes to instantly brighten them up.
