Sale tip: I am not one of those who would rush to the mall when my favourite stores are on sale but at the same time, I am not snobbish enough to ignore a good sale if I come across it. I suggest that one should not go with very high hopes to the store during sale time. Sometimes, it can turn out to be a disaster. Plus, you shouldn’t buy as per the trend because the items on sale are usually a season old and will be dumped aside the next season. Instead, invest in a classic. Go for vintage or off-beat buys. Do not try to get a whole look together. It’s best to pick up things that you really love as soon as you spot it. Lastly, buy it only if you have to have it. Don’t buy stuff you already have in your wardrobe.
My best buy: I had once seen a classy red quilted Burberry trench coat but then it doesn’t get so cold in Bombay, so I found it a tad overpriced. I would hardly wear it, afterall. But, when I visited Delhi later, the same coat was on a hefty sale and it seemed worth spending on.

Sale tip: The sales have come early this time and there are few who would miss the opportunity. With hi-end luxury brands such as Burberry and Jimmy Choo on 70% sale, it’s best to pick up these expensive products that one would otherwise avoid buying. Do not go for the casual daily wear during this period, rather pick cocktail wear like smart dresses from FCUK and Mango or something for the approaching wedding season. Also, this is the time to pick up loads of makeup products. Body Shop is on sale and you can buy three bottles of their shower gel at the price of one. Stock it up as this isn’t a perishable item. However, be wary of the sale products in the local market, as it is often, that they are on sale because they are defective.
My best buy: I was in Koh Samui during the sale season and bought a jumper sort of silver Todd’s bag at 60% off. Now, I am eagerly waiting for the right occasion to flaunt it. I even bought a Karen Miller dress from there at an unbelievably low price.

Sale tip: Brands such as Zara and Mango have changed the nature of sale also in the city. They are now genuine and good. But, to make a sensible purchase, do not wait till the sale touches a 80% to 90%, as then finding the right size will be difficult. Instead, visit in the middle of the sale season. Some people go to stores before the sales start, to try on the garments and decide on the apparels, but I don’t recommend that. One must go with an open mind and pick what seems best at that time.
Also, don’t go to the store if you are running on a tight schedule because sale shopping must be done with a clear head and lots of time on hand.
My best buy: I bought a black and brown faux fur jacket from Mango for half its price. When I had seen it first I was tempted to buy it but found it a little overpriced. I felt great when I saw it on sale and in my size.
