Last September, Arjun Rampal had confirmed that he was gearing up to launch a perfume through a worldwide chain of distributors and an exciting ad campaign. Alive will be unveiled next week and distributed by Baccarose that has earlier marketed the signature fragrances of Hollywood stars Antonio Banderas, Elizabeth Taylor and Britney Spears and also has top brands like Prada, D&G, Kenzo and Azzaro on its client list.
Talking about the name Alive, Arjun says, “When you smell nice, it helps you work better and you feel more alive.” Understandably reticent on the subject, the actor and TV host has reportedly developed a day perfume that is refreshingly fruity (hint of orange and pomegranate) and light on the nose, and an evening perfume that is stronger and muskier.
Arjun has been working closely with a Paris-based company for over a year and has been involved with it at every step, right from the selection of the fragrance to its processing and the bottling. The former supermodel has apparently shot bare-bodied for a print ad of Alive.
He is the third Bollywood actor to get scented. Earlier, leading French perfume brand Jeanne Arthes named a fragrance after Shah Rukh Khan. Tiger Eyes went into the stores in April 2007 and includes SK, SK Silver for Men and SK Gold for Women. The 169-year-old perfume brand had associated with Zeenat Aman earlier, the first Bollywood star to have a signature perfume.
Amitabh Bachchan has also endorsed Pour Homme and Pour Femme by Lomani. And the Nightingale of India, songstress Lata Mangeshkar has lent her name to Lata Eau De Parfum by Gandh Sugandh.
