For the past 10 years, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s red carpet appearances at the Cannes Film Festival have been trashed by critics for every minor flaw. But, what the 37-year-old wore on Wednesday night at the 64th Cannes Film Festival found unanimous approval from fashion watchers.

Ash was dressed in a flesh-toned Elie Saab gown and carried a Jimmy Choo clutch. “She looked flawless in an asymmetric nude dress. Perfect from every angle,” wrote UK tabloid Daily Mail. “I love how regal the Indian beauty looks,” wrote blog Red Carpet Fashion Awards.

A total of 650 actors, filmmakers and other members of the global film fraternity gathered at a seaside venue for the premiere of Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. Hollywood actors Jude Law, Uma Thurman, Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek were among those present.

Hollywood star Rachel McAdams may have looked stunning in her form-fitting red Marchesa gown, but the 34-year-old actor had a tough time keeping the net-overlay outfit together at the Cannes Film Festival that took off on Wednesday. McAdams walked the red carpet with boyfriend Michael Sheen, 42, and throughout the evening, she kept tripping over the five-feet long train of her gown.

Sheen was seen disentangling the train from her high-heeled gold Casadei pumps. The two made their first public appearance together, walking for Woody Allen’s film Midnight in Paris. They were joined on by actors Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Lea Seydoux.
