The slight chill in the air is enough to indicate the beginning of winters and is also a valid reason for you to update your winter wardrobe. But the bone-chilling winters should not play shield to your fashionable looks. So keep it stylish and trendy with the winter must-have jackets and coats. These winter staples dominated designers’ autumn/winter collections at the fashion week runways. Fashion stylist Aakanksha Jain says, “Your winter wardrobe is incomplete without the latest styles of winter coats and jackets. From military, cropped, double-breasted, trench to tuxedo jackets, the options are plenty.” Here are some top styles of the season. The trench: This classic silhouette is evergreen. A trench coat can vary in length from mid-high up to the knee. Made famous by the international brand Burberry, a trench comes with a belt to be knotted at the waist.
Bomber jacket: For a more casual look, a bomber or a puffa jacket works style wonders and beats the extreme winter chill. A bomber jacket (full or cut-sleeved) looks uber stylish when paired with denims and uggs.
Cropped jacket: These jackets are short in length — finish at least 3-4 inches above the waist. You can either opt for the casual styles available in denims, cotton or woollen fabrics or sport a dressy look with a brocade-fabricated design.
Mink or fur coat: A faux mink or fur coat is comfortable to wear. It not only keeps you away from the chill but also creates a chic look. You can look out for fur knee-length coats, cut-sleeved mink jackets or just a fur bolero.
Overcoats: For a sturdy yet fashionable winters cover up, overcoat is the best bet. From oversized to the formal two buttoned there are many styles in distinct colour palette. This season, go for the oversized style for an androgynous look.
WINTER COATS GUIDE
Winters generally bring with them dark and neutral shades such as blacks, greys and beiges; but this season, you can experiment with bright colours in coats and jackets such as green, yellow, red, turquoise, orange and fuschia. While, you can keep the neutral colours for a more formal look, bright shades in jackets and coats will pep up your dull attire and the gloomy weather too.
Your choice of fabric should depend upon the utility of your cover up. If you feel too cold and prefer being wrapped in warm clothes, look out for fabrics such as tweeds, gabardine, felt and wool mix cottons. For a layered look, where you add a jacket or coat to add smartness to your attire, prefer fabrics that are less woollen.
The choice of fit for a coat or jacket should be based upon the look or style you will like to sport. For example, pick an oversized coat for an androgynous look; leather to a little add punk to chic style; a fitted bomber for a comfortable casual look; a formal tuxedo jacket for a corporate or formal appearance and a faux mink or fur coat for a fancy party or night out.
