Finding one’s strength and playing on it seems to have become the mantra for several designers at WIFW this year. In doing so, many of them have presented some of their most well-crafted work yet.

Abraham & Thakore
Without doubt one of the best presented collections in recent times. They defined the influence of men’s fashion on women’s clothing with stupendous success. Their creations were spotless and full of style with jackets with stitch detailing, Kerala dhoti with zari border interpreted in different forms, beautifully made saris, worn with vests and fitted shirts et al proved that their collection leave an indelible mark on the minds of everyone.

Sonia Sarin
At her debut showing, Sonia presented an all-ivory collection of western wear that was well made and well styled as well. Silhouetted were flowy, fitted and very wearable.

Alpana & Neeraj
It was all the way to the timberland when this designer couple presented a collection of sculpted gowns and dresses leaving a woody feel with teak, rosewood and mahogany hues with splashes of other colours thrown in.

Atsu Sekhose
Playing well with cashmere, lace, wool and silk, this designer unveiled his collection of tailored creations in black interspersed with teal, purple and maroon and a splash of sequins. Blouses, dresses, shirt, boleros and jackets… all were made with perfection and style.

Jenjum & Jasleen
This label created a somewhat flirtatious mood with contrasting piping and different surface techniques on tunics, dresses and trousers.
my village by rimzim dadu She has taken her ability of creating interesting surfaces to another level by using metallic wires to create magic on dresses and jackets. By far one of her most outstanding innovations, the collection had what it takes to take innovation in clothing forward.

Pèro by Aneeth Arora
Here is someone who has stuck to her look season after season, and yet proved to be a success. The creations were fresh, crisp and styled in the most simplistic formats.

Gaurav Gupta
Another designer who came out with the best of his collection with drapes and innovations in texturing. Perfect for a red carpet function or classy evening, the collection was very modern in appeal and high on creativity.
