Seems like sexy bob cuts are the fashion this season. After being a hot trend when Hollywood actor Jennifer Aniston sported the hair do early this year, the style is back in the limelight with stars chopping off their long tresses to sport the look.
Recently, Latino Columbian singer Shakira, 34, known for her long wild locks, surprised everyone with her new bobs at the Gala of Los 40 Principales Prizes, in Madrid.
Shakira rocked the red carpet in a glittery sequinned dress, and the bob cut gave her a younger and refreshing look. Earlier this month, pop singer Katy Perry too, was spotted in bobs with pinks highlights.
“A bob is usually referred to a shoulder length cut and above, and the hair texture is the determining factor for this style. Straight, textured or curly hair, bobs are back on the hair agenda,” says beauty expert Ritu Makhija.
“If you have fine hair, go for a graduated bob to provide lift at the roots. Blunt bobs suit normal and textured hair, while a layered bob suits curly hair types,” suggests Makhija.
Consider the face type
Bobs look flattering on women of all ages, and unlike other tricky fringes and long curly hairstyles, they suit most face types. Be it any face type oval, round or long there’s a bob with different length, layers and bounce to go with it.
Beauty expert Shahnaz Husain says, “Short straight bobs enhance the features of someone with an oval face… you can add soft curls as well. For long face types, one should opt for a bob hairstyle that adds width to the sides. Avoid styles that add height on the top. Those with a round face, should skip very short bobs as it would add more width to the face. The hair length should be below the chin level and if you’re opting for layers or curls, they should begin at chin level and not at ear level.”
How to maintain bob hairstyle-
Bob haircut needs even more frequent washing.
Short hair also needs to be trimmed more often, in order to maintain its style.
Before blow drying or straightening the hair, heat protection products are a must to coat the hair from root to tip.
To tame frizzy or curly hair, use a hair serum or a leave on conditioner.
