Designer Anita Dongre showcased a beautiful collection on Day Four of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. The show started with lots of whites and transformed into pastel hues. The bohemian inspired knee and ankle length dresses were certainly the highlight of the show.
Designer on her collection "I wanted to do beautiful clothes that women would enjoy wearing and feel happy in. That was the whole purpose of the show. The USP of my collection is pretty, elegant and extremely wearable clothes which are also reasonably priced. Prices are as low as Rs 3000 for a top and my most expensive gown is for Rs 15,000. These are clothes that most women would relate to and would want to buy. It’s a true prêt collection under my label IINTERPRET."
White usually dominates a Spring/Summer collection. "For me, summer is all about white which is why I began the show with whites. I have used light fabrics which makes you feel comfortable as if you’re wearing nothing. Then I have used pastel colours like pinks and yellows as well."
The models were seen in a jolly mood- dancing, singing and having fun on the ramp. "Music is a very important part of my life. I was listening to songs in my iPod and then these 60s numbers came up and I decided this is it for my show. The girls were enjoying so much during rehearsals that I asked them to do the same for the show. Just go and enjoy yourself," told the designer.
The collection featured dresses, shirts and shorts. Colour palette consisted of whites, pinks, greys, yellows, blues, greens and lilacs. Laces and hand embroidery, block prints and ikats were nicely used.
Shabana Azmi, clad in a black and red suit, graced the front row.
Thumbs up to the refreshing and totally wearable collection!
