Sporty style mixed with lady-like fashion are the emerging trends at New York Fashion Week.At the ongoing New York fashion week (Feb 8-16 ) designers are infusing a whole lot of interesting hints to fall fashion. While there were citrus colours on display at Diane Von Furstenberg’s creations, Prabal Gurung too showed soft shades like ivory for his streamlined fall dresses. Victoria Beckham infused an edgy touch to an otherwise babydoll inspired sharp feminine line, while Alexander Wang brought back gloss in fashion.

Trend: Glossy coats
Alexander Wang showed a futuristic collection dominated by glossy coats and jackets. Wang made extensive use of merino wool and also showed a black nappa puffer vest with detachable hood

Trend: Military chic
Although Victoria Beckham’s collection was dominated by figure-hugging dresses, it was inspiration by the military and baseball attires. This added that perfect playful twist to ladylike dressing

Trend: Romantic fall colours
Designer Prabal Gurung brought back romantic colours such as ivory and gold, back into fall fashion. Soft dresses with edgy frills were the highlight of the show. The collection also had black dresses

Trend: Dominatrix
At Herve Leger one saw the famous body hugging straight dresses. There were also interesting additions like accessories including harnesses that added a dominatrix feel to the show

Trend: Laid-back glam
Diane Von Furstenberg showed less prints than he usually does. The standout colours were pink and green, reminding us of colour block that’s been a fashion flavour for two seasons
