Cricket, fashion and film will collide at the Indian International Film Academy Awards. Twenty-four film stars and cricketers are scheduled to walk the ramp on Bling Night, the IIFA charity fashion event.

Speaking from the plane, right before their flight to Sri Lanka, Nandita Mahtani confirms this, “They contacted me a couple of months ago, right after my show at the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. The show is scheduled for the second day of the IIFA and I will be showing a line of womenswear.”

Mahtani is designing gowns for some leading ladies, including Dia Mirza, Neha Dhupia and Jacqueline Fernandes. Ask her whether her designs will be seen on stars off the ramp too and she shies away, saying, “I’ll only be able to talk about that later.”

Designer Rocky S will be showcasing his new pet project, his menswear line, along with Mahtani. “We have cricketers walking the ramp along with actors Viveik Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Arjan Bajwa and Jackky Bhagnani. I’ve settled on an old English school theme for the boys and they will be sporting red carpet looks,” he reveals.

For boys only
Rocky also says that he has designed a brand new collection for the occasion, focussing on black and white as the theme colours. Apart from that, actress Dia Mirza will probably be wearing one of his designs for the award show. But he’s not looking to dress anyone else.

He insists, “I already have too much on my plate with designing for this show. And since all the stars are going to be attending the show, that’s enough for me.”
