Officially establishing themselves as one of the music world’s favourite designers, Falguni and Shane Peacock scored another high-profile public appearance on Sunday night. Pop star Fergie turned up at the American Music Awards in one of their creations. The blue and black embroidered mini with feathers on the shoulders drew a lot of positive critique from fashion blogs, many mentioning how the singer went ‘short and sweet’ with her wardrobe choice and voting her as one of the ‘hottest above 30,’ thanks to the Peacocks.

The lead female vocalist of the Black Eyed Peas (BEP) had first worn one of their garments to the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa earlier this year. Sunday’s appearance was made even sweeter by the fact that the BEP won an award for Favourite Pop/Rock Band. “After we dressed Fergie for the World Cup, she has consistently worn something by us at least once every month. She wore one of our outfits on

too, a show in the US,” says Falguni. “We are in constant touch with her stylist and we always send some options for her whenever she asks for something.”

Falguni says, “She has an almost perfect figure; it’s the same size as the dummy we use, so we don’t worry about fittings.” Since singer Sophie Choudhary recently wore one of their outfits to the Global Indian Music Awards, have they broken ground in India as well? “Sophie wore something outrageous and it looked fabulous on her. Anusha Dandekar also wears our stuff, but the problem in India is that the music industry is small and nobody wants to make an outrageous statement.”

British singer Cheryl Cole also donned a Peacock outfit on the TV show

recently. So do the Peacocks have a preferred look for every star? Falguni retorts, “All the looks we send them are the best of the ones we’ve made. There’s no point sending something that’s not top class and then getting flak for it.”
