Having designed costumes for films such as Bunty Aur Babli, Shortcut-The Con Is On, Teen Patti and most recently, Badmaash Company, it is not surprising to hear Ameira Punvani call herself a ‘master of disguise’.

“It is a lot of fun doing disguises and there is so much team work involved. It’s very challenging as I wouldn’t want to be panned by people for repeating anything that has been done before,” says Punvani, who has worked with Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapur, Anoushka Sharma and R Madhavan, among other actors.

She says, “All the actors are very fussy about what they’re being asked to wear... There’ve been times when I get into a healthy dialogue with them so as to explain what the character needs.” Working with Bachchan senior on Teen Patti was a memorable experience, she says. “It was scary in the beginning but as he [Amitabh Bachchan] begins to trust you, he’ll just not interfere.”

As far as the young brigade, it is Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone whom she wishes to dress up.
