Collections come and go, but designer Gaurav Gupta’s Autumn/Winter 2009 offering seems to have all the right elements to keep it in the circuit for a long time.

His brooch sari, with the palla fastened with an embroidery brooch, for example, shows how embroidery can be manipulated to look chic.

Says the designer, “The collection is Indian in its outlook, with motifs like peacock and roses used in abundance. It includes saris, lehengas and indo-western outfits for the festive season. There’s less bling this season.”

Gupta believes his ensembles are suitable for both family dinners as well as pre-wedding occasions. His price points tip the argument in his favour — the brooch saris are priced between Rs 18,000-22,000.
