Five Indian designers share with with Itee Dewan on how they want Santa to look.

Nikhil Mehra
I would like a blonde Santa and when I say blonde, I mean a female Santa. The red would very much be there but my she-Santa will be a lot sexier, wearing a fitted low-back satin red gown. The front could be either V-neck or boat neck.

Rahul Jain of Sirali
My desi Santa would wear a sherwani or a long coat in red colour. He would wear a dhoti and his potli will be yellow. I would also give him white trims and big white buttons on the sherwani. <b1>

The coat will also help Santa hide the fat on his belly. Raghavendra Rathore
I wouldn't change much about Santa as that is the picture of the man we have carried in our minds since child hood. Without destroying the original look, I would add a little bit of trims here and there. Though on second thoughts, I might like to give a Jodhpuri suit.

Puja Nayyar
I'd take out the red and give him a dark, chocolate brown colour so that he looks less romantic and more stylish. An all-white outfit with brown lips and brown boots would be my Santa. I wouldn't change his pot belly, [but] instead double it up. A super-fat Santa!

Rohit Gandhi
I don't think I would like to change anything about Santa. We have grown up with that image and he looks amazing the way he is. Santa is sacrosanct.
