Mascara at the roots, not the tips, gives the illusion of length. Wiggle the mascara wand left to right at the base of lashes to achieve this.
Close your eyes and pull the mascara wand from the base to the tip to remove any clumps.
Wipe the mascara wand on tissue before applying to avoid blobs.
Make sure the mascara is dry and then use an eyelash curler. It gives eyes the appearance of being wider and brighter.
Powder under the eyes before applying mascara; it sometimes smudges because it is attracted to oily concealer or eye creams.
Use a mascara primer before application as it separates lashes.
Apply mascara only to the upper lashes to get a dramatic look. Do the second coat only after the first coat dries.
