After a successful debut in the Capital in 2011, Design One by Sahachari Foundation, an organisation which raises funds for deserving NGOs and acknowledges the extraordinary talent of designers, is back with its second edition.
Timing the event just before the Spring/Summer season and Baisakhi festivities, the exhibition showcases an innovative collection from designers across India, focussing on leisure wear, formal wear, young and chic prêt lines in a medley of colours, accompanied by jewellery and accessories.
For shoppers in search of a couture experience, there are creations by some leading designers too. The exhibition presents an opportunity for the participants to connect with consumers as well as for shoppers to choose from a variety of interesting design options.
In September 2009, the exhibition made its debut and offered a unique shopping extragavanza to visitors. The exhibition offered an eclectic product-mix of fashion wear, jewellery, accessories and lifestyle products created by 80 designers from all over India. Six NGOs had also put up stalls to exhibit their products.
The Design One initiative has dedicated its work to an NGO engaged in grass-root level work to provide education and shelter for daughters of women in prostitution, in order to protect them from second generation sex work.
