Get inspired to see things in black and white. This neat, crisp and sharp look is a hot trend this season, with fashion-forward women across the globe vouching for it. So, if you desire to stand out in a sea of colours, go monochromatic for a chic, vintage look.
Bollywood divas such as Sonam Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, along with Hollywood actors like Eva Mendes, Drew Barrymore and Heidi Klum, have been heading out in monochrome numbers and rocking this style which made an impact on global runways too, right from Versace to Vanessa Bruno presenting their takes on the style.
Ace the look:
You can go for monochrome prints or team black and white. To pep up the look, accessorise with a belt or a pair of earrings in different colour (our vote goes to gold). Wear a bright shade on your lips. A blood red or pink would look great.
Actor Sonam Kapoor aced the monochrome look in a white skirt teamed with a fitted, sleeveless jacket. Sonam completed her look with a belt, a clutch and a pair of heels — all in black. She added a little colour by sporting red lips.
Eva Mendes looks elegant as ever in her monochrome ensemble — a figure-hugging black pencil skirt and a fitted white blouse. Note the accessories — an intricate gold-and-white neckpiece and gold hoop earrings.
Mugdha Godse paired up striped monochrome palazzos with a plain black top. A long neckpiece, ear studs and clutch is all she used to go with her avatar.
Parineeti Chopra looked chic in an asymmetrical tunic, teamed with black tights. She teamed it up with black pumps and left her hair open on one side. A pop of red on the lips enhanced her look.
Drew Barrymore opted for a black and white ensemble — a black vintage jacket over a white dress. Note: summer jackets are also the flavour of the season.
It’s all about prints
Prints in monochrome have become a hot trend these days. Be it singer Anushka Manchanda (above left) or supermodel Heidi Klum, both sizzled in black-and-white printed dresses. The ripple effect created by the zebra-inspired print gives Anushka a lean, sexy look. Heidi keeps it simple-yet-stylish in a wrap-around geometric print dress, topping the look with strappy heels and shades.
