The confusion in our fashion industry seems never-ending. While Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) recently announced the dates for its next fashion week in Delhi (March 20-24, 2009), the rival Fashion Foundation of India has declared plans to make its Delhi Fashion Week clash with FDCI’s, yet again.
“We have decided on the dates and will announce them soon. It’s definitely going to be during the same time [as FDCI’s fashion week],” says Sumeet Nair of FFI.
To add to the confusion, the dates for Mumbai’s Lakme Fashion Week, have also been announced for the same week — March 27-31. It’s organisers are reportedly seething after a statement by FDCI’s Sunil Sethi that buyers would prefer Delhi over Mumbai in the wake of the terror attacks.
FDCI is also planning to move from Pragati Maidan to a swanky five-star hotel this time. The Leela, Gurgaon and the Grand, Vasant Kunj, are in the reckoning, as per sources.
