From women empowerment to optical illusion, from cross-cultural sensibilities to the dark past of Indian culture - four debutant designers will showcase these themes at the upcoming Delhi Fashion Week (DFW) scheduled from March 19-24.
Debutant designers Surbhi Chawla, Abhi and Rahul of Studio 11, Kartikeya and Isha of label Dozakh, and Sandeep and Gaurav showcased their autumn-winter 2009 collection here Monday.
Talking about his designs, Rahul told IANS: "Our collection is a tribute to today's women. We are talking about their journey starting from the war period to the glamorous divas of today. The collection will also talk about women empowerment and power dressing."
Chawla launched her label Surbhi Chawla in 2008 and before that she was working under designer Ashish Soni. Her designs cater to the contemporary international pret market.
Chawla is showcasing how optical illusion can be used in clothes.
"I have researched a lot on this subject and this time I am using just three colours -red, black and white to showcase optical illusion. My collection has gowns, dresses and chic shirts that cater to today's women. Women of all age group can wear my clothes," Chawla explained.
Designers Kartikeya and Isha of label Dozakh will be showing the dark past of Indian history.
