Fashion week season kicked off on Tuesday, with a big infusion of fresh blood on the ramp and a lot of partying off it.
Of the 93 models walking the runway at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion and Delhi Fashion Week, the WIFW has 30 new faces, and DFW has five. Interestingly, all the new female models at DFW — Nicole, Irina, Talia and Alina — are foreigners.
This year’s after-parties promise to be unaffected by the economic crisis. Last night, the Mumbai gang of Rocky S, Shane and Falguni Peacock toasted their first day shows with Satya Paul at the Hyatt Regency, while Gurpreet Pia Fleming and the Sirali duo of Rahul and Gunjan hosted their bash at the tony Smoke House Grill.
Today’s party line-up couldn’t get better. Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh has planned a bash with Marut Sikka at Magique in the Garden of Five Senses, and the don of drapes, Tarun Tahiliani, hosts his gathering with Priya Paul and Sethu Vaidyanathan at their new joint Italia at the DLF Place mall, Vasant Kunj.
Tomorrow, we have FDCI and Manish Arora hosting a bash at AD Singh’s ai, Saket. And on Saturday, Manoviraj Khosla’s bash will be at Kuki XO. Sunday sees the WIFW grand finale party at Indochine. The same night, DFW is throwing a models’ party at F Bar. On Monday, DFW wraps up in style with a show-cum-party by Rohit Bal at his new restaurant Cibo, Janpath. Don’t be surprised if the guys do a ‘half Monty’.
Thanks to next week’s IHT Luxury Conference, there is a mega bash at realty czarina Pia Singh’s residence on Wednesday. The following day, Harper’s Bazaar hosts a bash for conference invitees.
