Don’t know what to do with throwaway clothes lying in your closet? Starting today, our five-part series will tell you every week how to create cool looks with the garments you thought you’ll discard.

Have an old T-shirt that you don’t wear because it’s a tad too big and doesn’t embrace your curves right? Don’t throw it away, as having an oversized T-shirt also has its perks. We tell you super cool ways to add funk into that drab piece of garment. So, twist, turn, stretch and tie your tee and have fun creating new looks that’ll make you a head turner!

We used a plain, oversized T-shirt to create these five cool looks. While a neon or pop coloured T-shirt is always your best bet for creating inspiring looks, you can also jazz up your worn out tees before stylising them. Cut out the neck, create a boat neck, tie and dye in fun colours or stitch ready made motifs onto your tees.

Empire-waist dress
Turn your T-shirt into a dress. Wear it to a lunch outing with your girlfriends or on a casual date.

ACE THE LOOK: Pull down the T-shirt from the shoulder to form a lop-sided neckline. Tie a belt just below your bust to create a short and cool empire-waist dress. Try a DIY belt using multiple rounds of coir rope for a funkier look. Let your hair down and accessorise with contrasting chunky jewellry and a clutch.

Colour block evening gown
This glamorous look is certainly going to be an eye-stopper at a hot party.

ACE THE LOOK: Stretch back the armholes all the way to the centre of your back and secure them at the back using a ribbon. Wrap a beaded neck string around the ribbon to jazz it up. Team up the shirt with a high waist skirt to create a stylish evening gown. Stylize the gown with multiple bangles, a dainty necklace and a cocktail ring.

Asymmetric top
You can make this look work for your friend’s birthday bash or a fun outing with friends.

ACE THE LOOK: Take out one of your arms from the neck of the
T-shirt and tie a knot with the loose sleeve and the hem of the tee.
Wear a well fitted mini skirt or simply wear it with jeans. Accessorise with bold rings and a cool clutch. Play with strands of beads around the neck and tie your hair in a messy half up do.

Cowl neck halter
A smart semi-formal attire, perfect for a day look — make it work in office or for a lunch meeting.

ACE THE LOOK: Take out your arms from the T-shirt’s neck and pull it down in the form of a tube top. Take both the loose sleeves and tie it behind your neck to create a fashionable cowled halter neck top. Wear it tucked in with a short crisp pleated skirt. Accessorise with an envelope clutch, hair band and a pair of shades.

Drop waist dress
This glam diva look is perfect for an evening with friends and cocktails.

ACE THE LOOK: Pull back the neckline to get a turtleneck and roll up one sleeve completely. Wear a thin belt around your hip to create a stylish drop waist dress. Wear a bold neck collar paired with bold matching chunky bracelets. Tie up your hair in a messy pony and wear small earrings for an effortlessly chic look.
