Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo, Armani — words that will make any shopaholic’s eyes glaze over with pure joy. And now, thanks to a two-day exhibition in the city, chances are you’ll find yourself some designer arm candy for the lowest possible rate.
The first initiative of new venture Solo Luxury, the event will see about 250 bags from such lusted-after brands as Louis Vuitton and Prada go on sale at exhibition space Ave 29, at discounted rates. Don’t fall down in shock if you spot an Armani for Rs 10,000, though there are the usual budget burners priced at Rs 1 lakh too.
Explaining how they manage to curb costs, Chandan Laungani, head of marketing for Solo Luxury, says, “We don’t have a retail space and any major overheads, so we pass on these benefits to the customers. In any case, if you were to buy a good leather bag in India, it would be about Rs 8,000 – Rs 10,000. Here, we’re offering you a high-end luxury item for the same rate.” And if you’re worried about fake monogrammed totes, he assures buyers that they have letters of authenticity and customs clearances in place.
The exhibition will also offer men’s shoes from the same brands, which Laungani’s team has sourced directly from the distributors in Europe. “We are hoping to reach out to the masses, those people who have the money to spend, but might feel too intimidated to walk into a Louis Vuitton store. There is huge potential to expand the market in India, and depending on the response, we plan to have these exhibitions regularly.”
The exhibition will take place at
Ave 29, 4 Kohinoor Mansion, 29 Hughes Road,on August 31 and September 1 from 11 am to 9 pm.
