As you ditch your school uniforms and gear up for college life, it is time to indulge in those stylish trends that you have been wanting to flaunt but were not sure about. Body piercing is one such trend that is quite a rage in Delhi college campuses.

“The demand for body piercing has always been high among college students. Ear and eyebrow piercing is a thing of the past. What students are getting done these days are lower lip and tongue piercings. Also, there is a craze of tunnel piercing, which is an extension of ear piercing,” says Lokesh of Devilz Tattooz.

“Nose piercing has always been popular with girls in college, especially those studying in girls colleges. Actor Kareena Kapoor’s look in the song, Chhamak Challo, where she sports a nose stud, has also become a rage. Girls are trying to copy it by getting piercing done on their nose. Diamond or zircon studs for nose piercings look very good and go with every outfit,” says stylist Shival Ghai of Expressions Salon.

“Body parts for piercing change from year to year, and this year, it seems that earlobe and industrial piercings are quite popular,” says KD, the owner of KDz Tattoos.

“Girls usually prefer navel piercing. Ear and eyebrow piercing has always been popular. People are experimenting, but one has to be extremely careful. Tongue piercing is bit risky because it needs proper after-care,” says Chetan Salhotra of Scorpio Tattoo Inn.

As more and more youngsters go for body piercing, Salhotra advises precaution. “In this humid season, taking care of studs becomes more important. Though there is a minor risk of skin infection, but a proper sterilisation and use of gloves eliminates it. A new needle should be used after every piercing,” Chetan advises.
