A new Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama iPad app, that allows readers to experiment with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s signature bright spots, was recently launched by Love magazine. Readers who subscribe to Love on their iPads, will automatically receive the app with Issue no. 8, while others can download it for free from the Apple Store.
The app has been art-directed by Jonny Lu and showcases a fashion film shot by Angelo Pennetta and styled by Katie Grand, editor-in-chief of Love. “Although it looks very simple, building ‘the back’ has been hugely complex,” Grand was quoted as saying about the app.
Earlier this year, the Japanese artist teamed up with the fashion house to present a collection inspired by her bold, graphic polka dots. While Kusama has famously applied dots to tree trunks, entire rooms and even people, for Louis Vuitton the spots adorned clothing and accessories.
