Forget blankets or that cup of hot cocoa — the best way to battle the winter blues is by adding a dash of yellow in your wardrobe. The Fall/Winter 2010 runways at Milan, Paris and New York saw a march of the yellow brigade in every shade possible. Back home, the yellow fever has gripped every fashionista. From Bollywood divas such as Kangana Ranaut, Genelia D’Souza and Sonakshi Sinha to stiletto-tottering socialites in the Capital, they’ve all gotten mellow for yellow.
“Yellow is a big trend for the Fall/Winter. Yellow is popular in India because we have three prominent skin tones, olive-wheatish, brown and fair, and yellow suits all!” says designer Anand Bhushan. “Yellow is at the top of the winter fashion list, but this doesn’t mean you don this colour from head to toe. You can add yellow accents with yellow pumps, or clutches and stoles,” says stylist Radhika Jha.
So break the monotony of grey winter by wearing something in yellow. And you don’t even have to worry about scrounging the markets to find this colour of the season. “From luxury labels like Marc Jacobs to high street labels like Zara, every place is stocking up this hue. It’s a trend that’s easily accessible for every price range,” says fashion blogger and writer, Ambika Muttoo. But remember, though yellow is a fun colour, go easy on it, or you might end up looking very tacky.
