US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, 64, is not freaking out about being caught in the same outfit again, and again. While some fashionistas may smirk at her oft-repeated pant suits during her official visits, many feel she’s setting the right example and doing her bit for the environment.
Clinton has been repeatedly spotted wearing the same pant suits, including on Tuesday, during her ongoing India tour. She wore a three-button grey pant suit at a press conference, the kind she has worn on her previous visits here. Her white three-button jacket too seems to top her favourite list, which the lady wore twice — once in 2009, and again in 2011, when she visited India. During both the visits, Hillary paired the jacket with a black pant and the same pearl necklace.
Fashion gurus give her a big thumbs up for having the courage to make public appearances in the same look, and setting an example of green style. “Yes, it’s an environmentally-conscious style statement to repeat clothes in your wardrobe and save on resources,” says stylist Akanksha Jain. “She has not succumbed to the pressures of ‘looking different’ all the time. She has the confidence to do things her way,” says designer Anupama Dayal.
Designer Ritu Beri adds, “There’s a lot more to her personality than just dressing up. No one should have a problem with her wearing the same outfits.” Designer Gaurav Gupta too hails her for not being too fussy: “If she’s wearing pant suits and pearls, that’s her style. If she sticks to what she likes, what’s wrong?”
