Hindustan Times Most Stylish 2016: A look at past winners in pictures
As a run up to our annual style awards, Hindustan Times Most Stylish, we look at some of our favourite shoots from previous years that celebrate style and substance.
As we count down the days to Hindustan Times Most Stylish 2016, here are some exclusive images of our previous years’ winners. Photo shoots with our winners help us create fun and stylish memories each year. So, check out some style lessons, and nuggets of fashion chatter from our shoots.
NARESH TREHAN

Be it his crisp blazers or elegant bandhgalas, the cardiologist surely knows what it takes to make an impact. “It’s great that the award focuses on substance rather than how trendy or fashionable a person is,” says Dr Trehan. His spirited Beagle made sure to pose stylishly for each and every picture we clicked. If we had an awards for pets, you know who would have walked home with it.
NIDHI RAZDAN
Brains with beauty to match, complete with a sunshine smile, the journalist looks as gorgeous in the traditional six yards wonder as in simple pantsuits. But it had to be this gorgeous pink sari for our shoot that she carried off effortlessly, even as she posed sitting on the stairs of the Hauz Khas fort.
MRIGANKA SINGH

Her royal good looks and effortless style make Princess Mriganka Singh of the erstwhile royal family of Jammu & Kashmir a style star. The graphic designer experiments fearlessly — be it her tough jackets, denims and Lennon glasses, or glam dresses. She showed us what biker chic is all about as we shot her riding one of her favourite bikes.
KOEL PURIE

This actor and TV anchor can give fashion mavericks a run for their money with her effortless style. From glam dresses to fun maxis, she knows how to rock it all. The perfectionist that Koel is, she already had everything planned, from her hair to outfits, when we reached her place. We got perfect shots in a few minutes flat.
GAUTAM KALRA

Be it peppy scarves, shoes or watches, this stylist knows how to impress with his out-of-the- box style sense. We couldn’t have got a better prop at his house for his shoot — this funky Manish Arora carpet added another punch of colour in the high-on-hue shoot. The shoot ended with some fun chatter, and invaluable style tips by Kalra.
USTAD AMJAD ALI KHAN

We met Ustad Ji at the Claridges Hotel for an early morning shoot. Ustad saheb already had his favourites from his wardrobe in place, impeccably teamed with classic accessories. There was so much to learn from him — the sarod legend was down-to-earth, and patient. He smilingly gave all the poses that our photographer asked for.
SONALIKA SAHAY
We took the supermodel to a cool cafe in Hauz Khas for her shoot. While we love each shot that she gave us, this one’s our most favourite picture, taken once the glamorous shoot was wrapped. Sonalika had changed into her everyday clothes, and was sitting crouched on a chair, smiling, least aware that our camera was still in the clicking mode.
KANIKA SALUJA

Someone who never shies away from turning fashion rules on their heads, the fearless fashionista’s style is quirky and edgy. The fashion designer’s cool buzz cut makes her stand out. She was a lot of fun to shoot, except for her fear of red lipsticks. We blackmailed her to try it for the shoot, and the result was something we totally adore.
NIAMAT BAKSHI

Re-defining social stereotypes, activist and lawyer, Niamat Bakshi cuts a classy picture in her red carpet-perfect outfits. We shot the fashionista at her residence, wearing her favourite dresses from her envy-inducing collection that has glam picks from all over the globe. Her inputs helped us get these elegant shots.
