It’s April and high time if you haven’t figured out what should make for the must-haves in your wardrobe this summer.

Colours, colours and more colours
Designer Nikhil Mehra says, “I think one should stock lots of hues like parrot, cappuccino, hazelnut, raspberry, aquamarine, pink and the all time favourite, white.”

Nitin Bal Chauhan suggests flaunting some electric hues, too. “Electric colours that shock once in a while and scarves are the must-haves this season,” he says.

Short is hot
Nitin says, “With short dresses a big hit with both Hollywood and Bollywood personalities, it’s a must-have in a girl’s wardrobe.”

Designer Puja Nayyar feels it’s a floral dress with chic flip-flops embellished with pearls and swarovski that make for a perfect summer style statement.

Accessorise it
Sporty bags and keds in shocking colours can give definition to your outfit, says Nikhil. Nitin advises to always mix and match. “Keep the accessories minimal, unless your outfit is very plain,” says the designer. Nitin gives out a few more options for summers. “Cotton, satin dresses with graffiti and tight denims with loose fitted tees, slacks matched with long tees are some other essentials.”

The guy thing
Puja Nayyar has a tip for boys. “Khakis, shirts in stripes, checks and of course denims, with a smart watch would more or less suffice a guy’s summer wardrobe.” The colours that will rule this summer are bright vermilion, hot pink, fuchsia, greens and cobalt blue.
