Actor Shama Sikander who turned fashion designer last year organised Fashion Walk, an event to display her first set of gowns and dresses.
Shweta Bhardwaj, Smilie Suri, Pony Verma, Parull Chaudhry and Sayantani Ghosh were among the celebrity models who walked for Sikander. The actor, last seen in Yash Raj Films’ TV show, Seven, kept the her line showcase low key.
“I displayed formal outfits that I had designed for the winter season. They include gowns and short dresses,” says Sikander, adding the maiden collection was designed keeping the season in mind. “I decided to become a fashion designer in November last year and by the time my collection would have rolled out, the party season would have been over. I couldn’t get a chance to display my winter party collection,” reasons Sikander.
“So I decided to have a low key fashion show,” she adds. Given her credentials as a TV actor, it wasn’t difficult for Sikander to get her other celebrity friends on board to walk the ramp in her designs. “They’re really sweet girls. In the industry, it’s difficult to find one femaleactor who you can trust and be friendly with. But look at me, I’m so lucky that I have so many of my female colleagues and now, friends, who agreed to walk the ramp for me, without any hiccups,” smiles the actor.
After this event, Sikander plans to display her Spring-Summer collection in a big way. “If you notice, this show didn’t have a single Spring-Summer dress or a summery hue. The next show, hopefully in the coming few months, will be a Spring-Summer show,” says Sikander.
