Clean, moisturise and exfoliate your lips for that luscious pout. If you have dark lips, do not hide it under layers of lipstick. Instead, treat them with natural products.
Excessive use of lip colour, smoking and exposure can be the reasons for dark lips. Lipsticks are major reasons of lip darkening. Using lipsticks extensively to cover them up can only make matters worse.
Cigarettes, coffee and tea can also cause dark lips. Sunrays not only cause damage to your face, but your lips as well. Sunscreen with at least SPF 15 should be applied on the lips to prevent pigmentation.
Every morning, use a toothbrush (with soft bristles) lightly on your lips too to ‘exfoliate’. Also, remember to moisturise and keep them hydrated. A mixture of lime juice, honey and glycerine can be effective treatments for dark lips. Apply daily for several weeks to see some results.
Rub on some almond milk or almond oil and keep it on your lips for at least an hour. Some lipsticks contain high percentage of lead that can darken your lips. So choose a product with care. Use only mild varieties of lipstick, lipliner, pencils and glosses.
Drink at least eight glasses of water every day.
